About Academic Briefing

The free blog and e-newsletter, Academic Briefing, publishes timely articles written by academic experts. Topics address the challenges, issues, and trends that matter most to academic administrators at post-secondary institutions. Published three times per week, the blog articles will help academic administrators set direction, solve problems, and become stronger leaders. Topic areas include administration, such as accreditation, program and course assessment, program development, and strategic planning; human resources including career development, collegiality, diversity, faculty development, and faculty evaluation; risk management including campus safety, legal issues, regulation and compliance, and student affairs; scholarship such as competency based education, curriculum, grading, and research, and marketing, communication and recruitment.

Academic Briefing is edited by Tyler Koshakow. Before joining Magna Publications in 2017, Tyler held editorial positions with SPIE Press, a publisher of books on optics and photonics, and Bellingham Review, the professional literary journal of Western Washington University. He holds a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MA in English from Western Washington University.
